Saturday Afternoon Adventures!

Because of Dan's new job limiting the time he spends with the boys throughout the week we have decided to make Saturdays a family fun day full of adventures. We've only been doing it for a few weeks now but we have really made an effort to plan ahead for a Saturday activity and then follow through with it!

Last week (February 1) we took the kids to the Southland Leisure Centre to go swimming. It was a first time for Novah and a lot of fun for the boys. They have a nice warm kiddie pool there which Cohen was pretty thrilled to splash around in, as well as some fun water slides which Marshal really enjoyed! Last year Marshal took swimming lessons at Southland and Cohen was always jumping to go in the kiddie pool so he was very happy that he got to stay with mommy and Novah and, "swim," in the water. Dan took Marshal to play in the wave pool which and go down the water slides. Dan said that as soon as they got to the bottom of the water slide Marshal said, " I want to go again!" He really loved it even though he looked slightly terrified when he got to the bottom of the slide. We had an enjoyable hour or so playing here and Marshal keeps talking about it and wanting to go back!

My cute little swimmers!

On Saturday (February 8) we decided to take the boys for a ride on the C-train and go downtown to the (somewhat) newly renovated Devonian Gardens at the TD Center. The boys are always talking about the train so we knew this would be a big hit and it was! Once we found a train station we could park at (who knew there are only parking lots at some train stations! clearly not us) we loaded up our stroller and headed to get on the train. The boys were just so stoked that they were being incredibly obedient and agreeable. We hopped on the train as the end of the west line and rode it into downtown. Marshal LOVED it! His face was literally lit up with joy the entire time and Cohen quite enjoyed it too. Once we got downtown we got off a station too early so we had to walk a bit to the TD center. It was pretty freezing out on Saturday so Marshal was not happy with the walk, but it was worth it.

Super happy train rider!

Another happy train rider!

Warm and cozy train rider!

Marshal and I.

When we got up to the Devonian Gardens I was really impressed with how warm and beautiful it was there. The only other time I have been was when Dan and I were first married (in August 2006) when we were driving across the country on our way to live in B.C. At that time it was under renovation so it was nice to see the finished product. It was absolutely beautiful and a welcome way to brighten my day since it has been so stinking cold lately! We packed a picnic lunch so we sat and ate near the fish pond so the boys could watch all the swimming fishies. After eating we went over to the amazing indoor playground that they have which the boys LOVED! They really needed that physical activity after being cooped up for so many days and they played hard for a good hour. It was great. I'm planning to take them back one week day hoping that it might be less busy!

Enjoying our picnic.

Yummy oranges!

A very happy little boy.

This photo cracks me up! He is just too too cute!

They loved spinning each other in these little cups.

Marshal just wanted to keep spinning and spinning.

Climbing to the top!
A little blurry, but both my boys having fun!

Dan and Novah.

Trying to hold Cohen back from jumping in the water!

Brothers! (wouldn't look at the camera for me)

Me and the kids. Marshal was not interested in sitting still so instead he ran toward Dan!

Pretty plants.

Pretty trees
Well those are the adventures of the past two weeks. I'm looking forward to what other fun things we will do together as a family this year on our Saturday Adventures!
